Dr. Mao became the first holder of the Nicholas J. Altiero Professorship in Science and Engineering. This professorship is established by an anonymous family composed of generations of Tulane alumni in Science and Engineering to strengthen and advance the university’s science and engineering programs and the mission of integrating science and education research.
Dr. Mao has distinguish himself as an outstanding academician, earning both the Tulane University Presidential Early Career Development and the Cottrell Scholar award in 2005 and the National Science foundation Career Award in 2007.
