March Meeting & New Group Member

This March our group attended the APS March Meeting in Pittsburg, PA. Five of our group members presented contributed talks. Our undergraduate Erin Vehstedt gave her first talk entitled “Superconductivity and antiferromagnetism in Fe(Se(1-x)Tex)0.82” in a Iron Pnictides special session. In that same session Tijiang Liu gave a talk entitled “Superconductivity and antiferromagnetism in Fe(Se(1-x)Tex)y” and Zhiqiang Mao presented “Magnetic order and structural transition in BaFe2As2 and alpha-Fe(Se,Te)” for Wei Bao from Los Alamos who was unable to attend.
In the Special Session on Ruthenates we also presented three talks. Jin Peng presented a talk entitled “Antiferromagnetism and bulk spin-valve effect in Ca3(Ru(1-x)Tix)2O7“, David Fobes’s was entitled “Probing orbital-dependent magnetism in layered perovskite ruthenates through angle-dependent magnetoresistivity”, and Zhiqiang Mao presented on “Electronic phase diagram in double layered ruthenates (Sr(1-x)Cax)3Ru2O7“.
Finally, we would like to welcome our new PostDoc, Pramod Kumar who arrived in late February. He will soon have a CV posted here and a pictures of our group should be forthcoming.
